Melanie Lord is the Managing Director and founder of AVS VAT, which was established in 1994 with the mission of adding value by solving, or better still preventing, UK VAT problems for clients from around the world. As well as advising on an endless spread of VAT consulting situations, AVS VAT also works with both UK and non-UK clients to look after all of their UK VAT compliance concerns and needs.
AVS VAT is highly organised and focussed to make life easy for clients by operating on an entirely electronic, paper-free basis. This makes for quick and efficient communication and support with anything to do with UK VAT – from consulting projects to registration and dialogue with HMRC around imports and penalties through to preparation and submission of returns.
Melanie’s experience covers VAT in the context of all business sectors and aspects of trade, advising clients ranging from large international groups to smaller individual firms. She has specialist knowledge in relation to the complex VAT rules surrounding UK property and also on arranging international trade.
Melanie is a Chartered Tax Advisor regulated by the UK’s Chartered Institute for Taxation and therefore operating to the highest UK professional standards. Her original training in UK VAT was as a VAT inspector moving on to Arthur Andersen where she headed up the VAT service for the UK North-East region before setting up AVS VAT.
