Marc Govers began his career in 1991 as an adjunct inspector for the Belgian VAT Authority. Here he gained particular experience in international trade (at the Port of Antwerp) and fiscal procedures. In 1995 he joined Coopers & Lybrand as a Senior Tax Advisor, where he was involved in a number of national and international VAT projects. His tasks also included carrying out VAT audits and training junior colleagues in specific training sessions or on the job. From 1998 till early 2023 he worked at THE VAT HOUSE as a partner. Mid 2023 he joined VAT Consult, a boutique VAT specialist, as a senior counsel. Marc is the Belgian correspondent for IBFD and the author of numerous books on VAT.
